M4 Messenger Album

Hey all, I hope everyone reads this. M4 Messenger, Otis and Rich's band recently made a new album in a local Charlotte studio. Otis plays guitar and sings, rich guitar and vocals, Tim Mcdonnell on Bass, and Benji Rogers on Drums. The ablum is now on the Internet for download and I think most Animal Bag fans would really love it. Richie definitly shines so much on this. Here is the link http://www.digstation.com/AlbumDetails.aspx?albumid=ALB000048619 Let me know how you like it on here. I swear I will get Otis on here, he actually has a laptop now and has figure out Facebook!

Rich Parris

Hello Everyone, My name is Leslie. Some of you may remember may from years ago at Jeremiahs club. Others may not. I was the girl that wore the big top hat. Tonight I was reminiscing about some of the shows that I used to attend at the Ritz and Jeremiahs. Some of which were the AnimalBag shows. I knew Rich at that time. He and I actually met at a convenient store where I worked. Rich was a little scared and stand offish at first because he thought that I recognized him from the band. Only I didn't know anything about the band until we started to talk. Well some time went by and I went on vacation to Arizona to see my family. During that time I inherited my step grandfathers jewelry making kit. He was a full blooded Cherokee Indian and made jewelry as a hobby. So I dug through the stuff and found a piece of metal that was shaped in the form of a guitar pick plus two tiny turquoise fish. So I glued them onto the pick and gave it to Rich as a gift upon my return to Charlotte. Several months later Rich and I were hanging out at his house and he brought out the pick and told me that it meant a lot to him. Over the years Rich has gone through my mind. But I really am jealous to hear that he has accomplished what he was supposed to do here on earth and has returned to the universe. I wish that we could have reconnected on Facebook or some other social media. But now that I reflect on the moments of friendship that we shared.... it really means a lot to me that he really liked that pick. See you soon Rich. Leslie Ferrell Dixon

May Richie rest in peace.

I just heard the extremely depressing news that Richie (Rich) Parris has passed away, he will be missed. I grew up down the street from Richie and his family, his sister and I were best friends as were his parents best friends with my parents. He was like an older brother to me and I have nothing but great memories of him from as early as I can remember until the last time I saw him when he, Jimmy Brown and I went camping in Lineville Gorge, NC. As I type this I have a mental photo album of him running through my head.....he is grinning in each and every picture like a Cheshire cat! May we always remember the good times, remember them often, and keep him in our hearts and minds. Farewell Rich, Scott Alan Fulmer

Image Damage

For those of you looking, I have a copy of Image Damage that I got directly from Luke some time ago, I also have high quality rip mp3 versions as well. I'm sure I can't legally give these out but if you are looking for this very hard to find CD I will try to help you out. Email me at zendik2000@yahoo.com. I do not check it every day but I will get your email and get back to you. This is an amazing CD, the production is much better than any other work and it truly does present the band with a much harder edge. EDIT - I just saw the link under the 'how do i get cd's' topic where you can download Image Damage, so this subject may be moot. Anyway, if anyone can't download for any reason or needs anything else shoot me an email. I see Luke every couple of weeks around Shelby at music stores and such and Tater seems to be doing pretty good, so there you have it!

From the Past

hi, I knew AB back in the day, before moving to CA, and I went with them. I met Rich at Appalachian State in Boone, a long fkn time ago. I'd say Rich, especially, and AB were a huge influence in my life. Even though I moved away from living and working with them I know how much I learned about being free from these guys. I read that Boo died today, which is really sad. It started at his grandmother's house. Without Boo and her generosity and openness this would not have been the same. I'm terrible about keeping in touch, although I think about these guys and AB often. Let Rich, Otis and Luke know I stopped by, give 'em my phone number if they ask. G

Wow

Found this place after doing a google search for the band. I bought the first album on a whim in 1993, while looking for something new. I feel in love with it and listened to it religiously for quite some time, and to this day the record still brings me back to that 1993-1994 time frame. That was an exciting time in my life and this record is like a time machine in that regard for me. My favorite song then and still now is "Cheerful Mary in the Rain". I'm a bass guy so the intriguing bass line caught my attention from the very first listen. However I love the entire first album, what a classic collection of incredibly creative tunes. Not to mention some of the best lyrical content of any record from any time. I picked up "Offering" when it came out and liked it as well, though it never touched me the way the first record did. I've yet to hear "Image Damage" but will be seeking that out soon. It's weird, I went years without listening to the band (after my original cassette from '93 was lost or worn out) then one day on a whim (like the first time), decided to browse for it and discovered it in the "used" bin at Hastings. This was 2006. Then, after a few weeks, the CD was put away and wasn't spun again until a few weeks ago. It sounds just as relevant as it did in 1993....a timeless record. Wow, that was long-winded. Anyway, just wanted to give a bit of background on myself and say that it's very cool to see this amazing band hasn't been forgotten.
