Found this place after doing a google search for the band. I bought the first album on a whim in 1993, while looking for something new. I feel in love with it and listened to it religiously for quite some time, and to this day the record still brings me back to that 1993-1994 time frame. That was an exciting time in my life and this record is like a time machine in that regard for me. My favorite song then and still now is "Cheerful Mary in the Rain". I'm a bass guy so the intriguing bass line caught my attention from the very first listen. However I love the entire first album, what a classic collection of incredibly creative tunes. Not to mention some of the best lyrical content of any record from any time. I picked up "Offering" when it came out and liked it as well, though it never touched me the way the first record did. I've yet to hear "Image Damage" but will be seeking that out soon. It's weird, I went years without listening to the band (after my original cassette from '93 was lost or worn out) then one day on a whim (like the first time), decided to browse for it and discovered it in the "used" bin at Hastings. This was 2006. Then, after a few weeks, the CD was put away and wasn't spun again until a few weeks ago. It sounds just as relevant as it did in 1993....a timeless record. Wow, that was long-winded. Anyway, just wanted to give a bit of background on myself and say that it's very cool to see this amazing band hasn't been forgotten. Shane http://www.passiontwist.com |
